SAIC Announces Director Transition: Ed Ley-Wilson to Lead Innovation and Business Development

The Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC) has announced a significant transition in its leadership team, with the departure of Director of Innovation and Engagement, Sarah Riddle, and the appointment of Ed Ley-Wilson as the new Director of Innovation and Business Development.

After more than three years of dedicated service at SAIC, Sarah Riddle has decided to shift her focus to her family business, Northern Light Consulting. Under her leadership, SAIC has achieved remarkable milestones, including a growing membership consortium, funded R&D projects, and substantial third-party funding.

Commenting on her departure, Riddle expressed gratitude for her time at SAIC and excitement for its future development. She acknowledged the need to devote more energy to her family business and looks forward to continuing collaboration with the SAIC team.

Stepping into the role vacated by Riddle, Ed Ley-Wilson brings with him 16 years of extensive experience in salmon farming, food processing, and retailer engagement. With a background in aquaculture and a track record of driving innovation and sustainability, Ley-Wilson is poised to lead SAIC into its next phase of growth.

In his statement, Ley-Wilson expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to contribute to SAIC's mission and build on the foundation laid by Riddle and her team. He highlighted key focus areas, including carbon mitigation, fish health and welfare, farming technologies, and feed sustainability.

Heather Jones, CEO of SAIC, welcomed Ley-Wilson to the team, emphasizing his continuity of experience and alignment with the center's future goals. She expressed confidence in Ley-Wilson's ability to lead SAIC into its next chapter of innovation and service development.

The transition marks an exciting new era for SAIC, with Ley-Wilson poised to drive forward its mission of fostering innovation and sustainability in the aquaculture sector.
