Infinium Lands $75M Investment for Project Roadrunner: Transforming Waste into Sustainable Aviation Fuel
Project Overview
In a groundbreaking move, Breakthrough Energy Catalyst has committed a $75 million project equity investment to support Infinium's ambitious Project Roadrunner. This pioneering initiative in West Texas aims to convert waste carbon dioxide (CO2) and renewable power into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and other low-carbon fuels.
Key Products
The project will yield Infinium eSAF, expected to reduce aviation emissions by around 90%, surpassing current SAF emissions reductions. Additionally, Project Roadrunner will produce Infinium eNaphtha for plastics manufacturing and Infinium eDiesel for challenging-to-electrify transportation methods such as long-haul trucking and maritime applications.
Strategic Partnership
In tandem with Breakthrough Energy Catalyst's investment, Infinium has secured an innovative offtake agreement with American Airlines. This strategic collaboration is a crucial enabler for additional investment in Project Roadrunner. American Airlines, aligning with Breakthrough Energy Catalyst's clean energy goals, becomes an anchor partner, accelerating the development of next-gen clean energy technologies.
Robert Schuetzle, CEO at Infinium: "Catalyst's investment is critical to accelerating Project Roadrunner's completion and the delivery of substantial eFuels volumes."
Mario Fernandez, Head of Breakthrough Energy Catalyst: "Infinium's technological and commercial maturity will help accelerate the clean energy transition."
Jill Blickstein, American’s Chief Sustainability Officer: "Our partnership exemplifies the novel collaboration necessary to bring to market the new technologies that will allow us to decarbonize."
Val Smith, Citi’s Chief Sustainability Officer: "Infinium’s eSAF technology is the latest example of innovation and growth in the climate solutions space."
Conclusion
Infinium's Project Roadrunner, fueled by Breakthrough Energy Catalyst's investment, stands as a beacon in the transition to clean energy. With American Airlines as a key partner, this initiative paves the way for a decarbonized aviation future.
