CEO of FirstBank Nigeria Resigns, Successor Appointed: Key Details

The CEO of FirstBank Nigeria, Adeduntan, has announced his resignation after nine years in the position, citing a desire to pursue other interests. His resignation, effective immediately, marks the end of a significant tenure at the bank.

In his notice, Adeduntan acknowledged the support received from the directors of FirstBank and FBN Holdings Plc during his tenure. However, he disclosed that he would be ineligible for employment within the bank after serving for up to nine years.

Prior to his resignation, the bank's board of directors had previously voted to retire him in 2021, but he was reinstated.

Alebiosu, the bank's Executive Director, Chief Risk Officer, and Executive Compliance Officer since January 2022, has been appointed as the acting CEO. With over 28 years of experience in banking and financial services, Alebiosu brings a wealth of expertise to his new role.

Before joining FirstBank in 2016, Alebiosu held executive positions in the transportation, oil and gas, and agricultural industries. His career began with the now-defunct EcoBank, where he gained valuable experience in the banking sector.

Alebiosu holds a bachelor's degree in industrial relations and personnel management from the University of Lagos, as well as master's degrees in international law and diplomacy from the University of Lagos and development studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He furthered his education at the Harvard School of Government.

In addition to his academic achievements, Alebiosu is a member of several professional associations, including the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Nigeria Institute of Management, and Institute of Chartered Accountants.
